My take on World Handwriting day
Happy World Handwriting day to each and everyone here who prefer the handwritten over the typed. In the world today, when technology is hyped and preferred more than penning the words down with their own hands. The same thought arose in my mind too when I first began my journey as a calligrapher. I somewhat felt that handwritten will soon replace the typed one in the next few decades. Especially when we all know the top right corner of word/pages has a section called fonts. Wherein there are innumerable fonts and styles to select from.
However, one fine day I was scrolling through the font list when I came across a particular font which mimicked the one which I mostly use for calligraphy. it made me ponder that maybe, it was placed because people wanted the typed to mimic the handwritten. That made me realise handwritten will never be able to replace the keyboard. People will always choose the handwritten to convey their emotions over the typed, for it carries the sentiments, warmth, passion, joy and above all of them love which the typed does not.
We quite often tend to underestimate the power of Emotions. It is so strong that can be incorporated in each and ever alphabet written. No matter how old letter is, what language it is in, what colour it is in or for that matter how long it is. It always finds its way to reach the reader. And I think thats what we calligraphers do. We become the medium to transfer emotions from one to other. And I feel it is this power which will never let the handwritten die.
To all those, who have ever chosen to write instead of type for their loved ones, To all those, who encouraged the handwritten and to all those, whom I have convinced to write, A VERY HAPPY HANDWRITING DAY :)
I do take customised orders. Feel free to give your loved ones something handwritten this year. I do not take bulk orders
